10th Annual Alberta Harm Reduction Conference Was A Great Success!.
The 10th Annual Alberta Harm Reduction was held in Edmonton, Alberta on March 4th & 5th, 2009. Hosted by Streetworks & AAWEAR, over 300 Conference delegates were provided with harm reduction education and skill transfer opportunities.
The 2010 Conference is being hosted by HIV North Society, Grand Prairie, Alberta. The dates for the conference are to be announced. Please contact HIV North for more information.

February 15, 2009 - The Conference has posted information on the Plenary Sessions. Information regarding sessions is now posted under the Conference Schedule tab to the left.
February 12, 2009 - The Conference is only weeks away. Please encourage those who are interested to register soon. During the Conference there will be displays from other organizations across the Province. In addition, there will be T-Shirts & Hoodies for sale. Audrey’s Bookstore will also be selling books on the topic of Harm Reduction.
University of Calgary, Faculty of Social Work – Continuing Professional Education at the Center for Social Work Research and Professional Development have approved the Conference for 10 Hours of Continuing Competency Activity Category A Credits. Individuals wishing to receive these credits are required to sign in and out each day and pay a one time University of Calgary administration fee of $10.00. There will be a sign up sheet at the registration desk and certificates will be mailed out from the University after the conference.
January 17, 2009 - New Ramada Hotel Reservation Promotional Code: The new promotional code to ensure Conference pricing at the Ramada Hotel is: CGABHI. This code may be utilized to book rooms online. Please see Venue Information at the top of the website for more information. If making a reservation via telephone, please be sure to mention "Alberta Harm Reduction Individual Block" and CGABHI. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

- Application for Conference Scholarship funding is now closed. Applicants will be notified prior to the Early Bird Registration deadline of January 26.
- The tentative Conference Schedule is now posted.
- A note on registration: If you are planning to register, online registration is quick and easy. If you choose not to pay for registration online via credit card you can still utilize the online system and have an email invoice sent to you.
- Hotel Information: Due to a communication error between the Ramada Inn and Streetworks, a new reservation/promo code will be necessary for Conference Pricing of rooms. We hope to have this code as soon as possible, and we will be posting it on this website once received. Thank you for your patience during this time.

December 8, 2008 - Abstract submission deadline has now been extended till December 15, 2008. Remember that poster submission applications are included in the abstract form.
November 15 - Lifetime Achievement Award - At this year’s Alberta Harm Reduction Conference we will be presenting someone with a Lifetime Achievement Award in the field of Harm Reduction.
The nominations are open to include any Canadian resident who has done outstanding work in advancing Harm Reduction in this country. The process is as follows:
Decide on a person who you think is deserving of the award.Forward the name(s) with a brief description of why you think this person is deserving to info@albertaharmreduction.ca The names and descriptions will be forwarded to AAWEAR and this network will make the final decision. The current plan is that the person will be brought to the conference and given the award at the banquet. Nominations are welcome from anyone, and more than 1 nomination is fine.
We would like to have the nominations closed by Nov. 28 and a decision soon afterwards.
